The name Eenkokerboomvlakte is definitely a mouthful but so worth saying when you understand where the honey is farmed. Carla, the brains behind this project, farms honey on her family farm in the Northern Cape. This part of the country is well known for the magnificent Kokerbome (Quivertrees) that dot the arid landscape.
The icon for this logo was illustrated to represent the Soutslaai flower. (In English its name is the Ice Plant.) The bees find this plant particularly attractive as a food source so it plays and important role in Carla’s farming. Ice Plant flowers are also very pretty to look at so making an icon out of the bloom was just a natural choice for me!
